Responsibilities

This position will allow you to utilize your expertise in various administrative skills to provide project-related, advisory and technical services to CBP management. This position starts at a salary of $81,548 (GS-12, Step 1) to $106,012 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $106,012 (GS-12, Step 10). Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by developing, analyzing and advising internal administrative policies, procedures, and management processes of the office.

In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:

Advising on administrative management matters associated with programs and operations
Developing long-range management plans for efficient and effective operation
Developing policy guidance on the management of all types of communications directed to the attention of the organization's highest level executives
Assisting with the coordination of all requests for additional resources, working closely with others to pull together comprehensive short-range and long-range plans
Evaluating and analyzing multi-functional programs, functions and organizations to determine whether the management systems in current use efficiently accomplish the sought objectives

Qualifications

GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. Examples include serving as an advisor on all administrative requirements and policies; participating in the development and implementation of administrative management policies; providing analysis and advice on complex program issues; applying analytical and evaluative methods to issues concerning the productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 01/17/2018.
